Transport
Watford’s excellent transport links mean you can get to London Euston in as little as 20 minutes on Chiltern Railways, or take a leisurely day and a half by narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal – possibly faster and definitely more pleasant than taking the M25.
Watford is also on the Metropolitan Line in Transport for London’s Zone 6A, taking around 40 minutes to Kings Cross and a weekly Zones 1-A travelcard costs £44. The M25 and the M1 motorways are a convenient distance.

Green spaces, waterways and recreation
Cassiobury Park is 190 acres of lovely grass and woodland on Watford’s doorstep. The Grand Union Canal passes through, and the park and canal traditionally become the focus for a summer party. The park also boasts tennis courts, a bowling green and a croquet lawn.
Vicarage Road, the home Watford Football Club and Saracens Rugby Club, is walking distance from the town centre.

Shopping, eating and drinking
The Harlequin Centre in the heart of Watford has all the high street stores you could ask for, and shopping is supplemented by a market three times a week. For something more specialised, you can find delicatessens such as Rodell's in St. Johns Rd and Labottega Italiana in Market St.
Bar Bodega on The Parade receives consistently high praise from its sophisticated drinking clientele; The Estcourt Arms on St Johns Road offers a friendly, local, feel and apparently serves an excellent pint of Guinness; and Mac’s Bar on Fearnley Street is a popular, straightforward, and welcoming pub with a big beer garden.
